Sipping Cocktails in Style at Franco’s Bar

Picture this: the smell of the ocean breezes, the sound of seagulls flying nearby, the rays of the sun still peeking behind the cliffs filled with colorful houses and flowers – all while sipping on an Italian cocktail and enjoying some nice relaxing music! This is what you will experience at Franco’s Bar in Positano Italy! The bar opened last year July 11, 2015. It’s a stylish all’aperto (open-air) bar that sits above the chic, high-end hotel Le Sirenuse that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is also an adults-only hotel!

This bar can hardly be missed! Last August, while trying to catch a bus, we ran by this bar and I literally stopped dead in my tracks due to the beauty and the ambiance of this spot! I was so captivated by the beautiful hues of blue and yellow and magenta colored flowers. It was breathtaking! So I was so disappointed that we could not have cocktails but told myself if we came back to Positano, we will definitely have to stop here!

Less than a year later, we can back and it was everything and more than I imagined! What really attracted me was the music! I am a music lover and love a good vibe to sip to. The music they played was a perfect level. Soft enough to be relaxing and loud enough for passersby to stop and say “WOW! Let’s have a drink here!”

Franco’s Bar takes pride in the design of this bar. They wanted a bar to be like how bars were back in the day – the “golden era where bars were bars!” I can truly attest to this! My favorite design of this bar is the beautiful yellow baroque fountain! Baroque refers to the style of art and architecture back in the 17th & 18th century. Baroque fountains are common in Italy. Our table was right beside this particular fountain. I loved it because it gave the perfect angle to enjoy the sunset and the views of the beach and cliffs. I love the sound of water trickling – it really gives it an extra something special to the experience. My dress is a multiway dress from Hipknoties! Franco’s Bar is also the only bar in Positano where they do not serve food! They do provide little Italian treats that are complimentary with your drinks. This includes potato chips, olives, and bread with a tomato sauce that was really good! Also they went around to each table and offered complimentary hors d’oeuvres on a round serving tray! It was good too!

The primary focus of the bar is the experience – the amazing view, the beauty of the bar & wonderful drinks. Food would just distract you from really enjoying this experience if you are always looking down to eat! Their menu includes a variety of options from your classic cocktails such has  Cosmopolitan, Hemingway Daiquri, Old Fashion and an Italian favorite Negroni. We both had one of their Sparking wine cocktails. The La Dolce Vita (Bombay Sapphire Gin, pomegranate, lime and prosecco) and a classic Bellini!

So the next time you are in Positano, don’t forget to stop a Franco’s Bar! you will not regret it! They open just in the evening at 5:30PM. “Life’s a Cocktail Party on the Street!” as Mick Jagger says so have a few cocktails there !  Thank you Le Sirenuse & Franco’s Bar for opening such a beautiful, chic bar! We enjoyed every minute of it! We will definitely be back! Grazie mille e ci vediamo presto! Ciao!

I love Positano as we stayed there for part of our honeymoon 🙂 Wish this spot was open while we were there, but now it’s just a reason to go back!
